Assignments

This class is different from any class I have taken so far, even other online ones. The self-grading with the little one question quizzes is unique. I also think the class is really well set up. I love the freedom it gives me to choose when I work on it and to also have some freedom in the assignments themselves. I get to decide which stories I read and I have a lot of freedom on the projects too.
I like how everything is done through a blog, it makes it easy to keep track of what I am working on. I have never kept a blog before but it is pretty easy to do.
I look forward to the stories and books I am going to be reading for this class. I liked reading the stories by the other students and I looked at the list of books I would be reading and I like the look of them as well.
I also like the Wikipedia extra credit assignment. There is a site called StumbleUpon which I used to use a lot which took you to random websites based on your preferences. I had a lot of fun learning about random things that way and it sounds like the links on Wikipedia will be the same way.

Introduction to a future Accountant (sounds fun right?)

My name is Elyse, and I am working toward a double major, Accounting and Finance. Last summer, I went with the business college to Italy to study abroad. While I was there, I took Cost Accounting, which has been my favorite class so far. It may sound boring at first, however, we partnered with a winery to create an extensive financial report, detailing the specifics of how their business has been doing and offering suggestions on how to improve. In a real-world context, Cost Accounting becomes highly enjoyable to someone who likes working with numbers and has an analytical mind. Especially when you are sitting on a mountain, drinking wine, and touring a beautiful vineyard! Next summer, I am going to be interning at Koch Industries up in Wichita. It is only over the summer, however, I hope that it will give me experience I can use in the future, as well as help me to discover exactly what kind of a job I want when I graduate. One thing people like to know about me is my travel exp...

Week 7: The Voyages of Sinbad: Space Captain

After becoming a captain of my own ship, I took off from earth and quickly left the atmosphere, piloting my ship on a well-known trading route to various planets which were friendly toward earth and toward exchange. We carried with us all sorts of things, that though common to us, were novelties where we were going. Everything was fine until the ship stalled. The maintenance workers were sure they could fix it but in the meantime, as we were passing a small planet which appeared to be uninhabited, I gave permission to send a small ship down so the crew could look about.  I joined them and fairly soon we were down on the rocky surface of the planet. We hadn't gotten far when the ground beneath us jolted and we were thrown off our feet. There was another shudder and I realized we were not standing on a planet but on a giant monster! I even glimpsed its head before it lurched again.  Several of the crew members were launched off the monster's back; the rest ...
